The problem
I ran a concierge made-to-measure suit service: consultations, fabric choices, measurements, orders with our tailors, fittings. Every order needed me in the middle, so it couldn't grow as a side project.
What I built
A self-serve site where customers design a suit, measure themselves with step-by-step guides, choose how it's fitted with estimated arrival dates, and send a request with an exact price. Behind it: an order portal, an owner dashboard, emails and PDFs for our tailors, and a searchable fabric library.
What I learned
Say the catch up front: customers see the trade-off (you measure yourself and cover small alterations, in exchange for at-cost prices) before they choose anything. Smart defaults beat endless options. And writing the spec first, one planning doc per area with open questions and a decisions log, made every build step faster.

How it works
- The Mirza way. What you get, and what’s in your hands, before you choose anything.
- Design. Pick a fabric, then style it yourself or keep the classic choices. The exact price updates line by line.
- Measure. Measure yourself, copy a suit that already fits, or start from your size.
- Fit and timing. Have it made directly, or try on a basted (trial) suit first, with arrival dates shown before you decide.
- Request. Our tailors confirm the fabric before anything is ordered or charged.
Under the hood
Next.js, hosted on Cloudflare, with a small database for orders and Google Workspace for email. I built it with Claude Code as my engineering partner.
Where it came from
Mirza grew out of Menstiel, the menswear business I ran from 2018 to 2024.
